Born in Tel Aviv and raised in Southern California's Conejo Valley, Alan Shafran has called Southern California home for most of his life. A lifelong athlete, he grew up competing in karate and playing soccer and tennis, continuing both soccer and tennis throughout high school. He eventually built a career in residential real estate, where his team has consistently ranked among the top three in San Diego County for sales, with experience spanning multiple real estate investment avenues.
Prior to pickleball, Alan shot pistol competitively, traveling to competitions across the country. In early 2022, Alan and his wife discovered pickleball together, and it didn't take long for him to become completely hooked. After moving to Encinitas, he converted the home's existing tennis court into three pickleball courts, which, if we're being honest, may have been the real reason he bought the house.
When he's not playing, Alan is probably watching a pickleball podcast and can tell you more statistics about paddles than anyone reasonably needs to know. He also has two adult daughters who recently graduated from college and are beginning their careers.
This is Alan's first year competing at the senior pro level, and he couldn't be more excited to join the USLPL, represent his team, compete alongside some great players, and see where this next chapter of his pickleball journey takes him.
